Hello beautiful! I’m Shelli, welcome to my website.

I’ve fought my weight my whole life, and it was in the trenches of those battles where I learned some hard truths about my body and bodyweight in general.

These truths have me convinced to the core that my current physical state is the lifetime sum total of four factors:

  1. My genes (over which I have no control),
  2. My age (ditto),
  3. My environment (over which I have influence but not full control), and
  4. My food and drink intake (over which I have full control).

So with this in mind, I’ve been slowly learning to focus on what I can control by incorporating positive habits into my day-to-day routine.  11 years in, 77 pounds down, and 23 more to go.

Back when the pandemic was still raging, after several years of yo-yo dieting within a 25-pound range and finding myself yet again at the upper end of that range, I decided to give up dieting altogether and just apply a little self-care by changing my habits. And guess what?  The pounds started melting off on their own.  Slowly, surely, almost without notice.  I think I’m onto something here, and I’m going to keep moving in that direction.  No diets, just getting my own self in hand, being more disciplined in my life and now enjoying it more.

And how about my “Why?” Why am I here, on the internet, exposing all the shame I’ve felt, the hurt, the failures, all the dirty laundry? Because I’ve also learned that I am not alone, not the only one that struggles with her weight. Maybe by sharing my experiences, mistakes, and lessons, I can help someone else along the way.
